Who Invested in Me?

Michelle Obama said, "Kids will invest more when they feel they are being invested in." I was in a particularly perfect position to have adults invested in me. When I was born, my mom worked as a hairdresser at a salon in town. She took me with her. The ladies she did hair for held me, fed me, and talked with me. When I was about four, my parents built a house and made a salon in the basement. Those ladies now came to my house to get their hair done. I spent so much time in the shop with them. I read to them while they sat under the dryer. I talked with them as they got their hair cut. But most of all, they talked with me. Outside of the shop, I also had good people that took an interest in me. I'm so grateful for them. So who are the people that invested in me as a child?

1. My parents - Ted and Carol Erikson

2. My grandparents - Robert and Elma Erikson and George and Gloy Messick

3. Clara Jean Bills (one of my mom's ladies)

4. My great-aunts - Blanche and Mae Erikson (my mom's ladies)

5. Gen Smith (my mom's lady)

6. Leola Erikson (my best friends' mom)

7. Chuck Porter (my boss)

8. Judy Beesley (my teacher)

9. Clyde Stewart (member of my ward who always asked about what I was doing and how I was doing)

10. Missy Ricks (I love that lady so much)
