Circle of Three

When you are surrounded by good people, their strength will lift you. I once saw a painting of a woman surrounded by other women, their strength was lifting the woman in the center into the air. That is how I feel about these three wonderful people. (There are more, but three is all I'm writing about today.)

1. Trent - The greatest blessing in my life is Trent. I am not the same person I was when we were married. I am stronger. I am much smarter. I am much more independent. He is the reason! He has been my cheerleader. He is my hand-holder. He is the shoulder I cry on. He is the one to hand me a tissue or an ibuprofen. He is the one to push me out of bed or my comfort zone. I wouldn't be the same without him. There isn't an hour go by that I don't think of how blessed or lucky I am to have him by my side.

2. Stephanie Forbush - We have been teaching together, across the hall, for many years. She is a fantastic teacher. I have learned so much from her. Together we toss ideas back and forth. Together we cry for students that struggle. Together we laugh at the absurdity of 2nd graders. Together we may curse (only a word or two) when the politics of education gets in the way of the knowledge and experience of educators. But even more, we have become great friends outside the school. I can be very honest with her. I don't have to pretend at all. She loves me just the way I am.

3. Julianne Hill - I got to know Julianne when our Stake reorganized wards. The first thing I noticed was a radiance that followed her anywhere she went. We became friends through Relief Society and activities. A few years ago, her son was killed in a tragic accident. Within a couple months, I had a student in my class that was killed in a tragic accident. Julianne came to my house to give me a hug and bring a rose because she knew I was hurting. Since then we have served together in small ways. She is the strongest advocate for education in our community. We talk often of educating children and our visions. She lifts my spirits and keeps me going when our education community gets difficult. She serves on our school board. I trust her and the decisions she makes. I'm sure she has no idea the influence she has on me as an eductor and as a general human being.

Surround yourself with people who lift you. I'm better because I do.
