1. In high school, my favorite (and most difficult) teacher had a quote that hung on her wall. I read it EVERY day. It has had a huge impact on how I react to tough situations. "That which ye persist in doing becomes easier to do, not that the nature of the thing has changed by that our power to do has increased." - Ralph Waldo Emerson. Powerful, eh?
2. When we got married we received a framed quote from some of my extended family. It was a favorite quote of my great grandma. Her life was met with financial struggles as they tried to provide for a large family and put much time and effort into homesteading a plot of land to become a successful profitable farm. There were times of great scarcity and times of sadness as several children died. But, their home was one of joy and happiness. "If of thy mortal goods thou art bereft, And from thy slender store two loaves alone are left, Sell one, and with the dole Buy hyacinths to feed they soul." - Hazel Felleman
3. The third is simple. I don't know who it is accredited to, probably many people. "If it is worth doing, it is worth doing right." I try to think of this whenever I do anything. When I don't apply it I have terrible guilt and then I re-evaluate my efforts.
