My most prized "possession" are not things. They are definitely people and relationships. But, I don't think that is what this post is to be about. I had to think long and hard about this post, knowing it was coming up. Over time, the prized physical possessions I cherish have changed and I've gathered more. Here are a few:
Set of Scriptures: Trent gave them to me as a wedding gift. My name is engraved on them It was the first thing I had that said "Robin Grant." It symbolizes to me that I'm his and he is mine - FOREVER!
Charles Barley Plate: I loved Charles Barkley in the 90's. I found him funny and rebellious. Talented and breaking trends. He was outspoken, which is something I wanted to be, but couldn't do. I loved watching him play. My sister-in-law, Tracie, gave me a collector's Charles Barkley plate. Still, today, I get all teary thinking how much that meant to me. It wasn't the plate. That was nice and is nice. Someday, it may be worth money. I once was told, "Susan is the favorite. You will never be as good as she is. She is perfect." I never tried to be better than Susan. Can't. She is perfect. I just wanted to be accepted for who I was. That gift was the moment I realized I had been listened to and accepted.
Good Pair of Shoes for Exploring: I love exploring the outdoors. In order to do that you must have healthy feet. I don't! Several years ago I developed plantar fasciitis. It is so painful and quite debilitating. Sometimes, when it is at its worst, I have to crawl because the pain is so excrutiating. When I find a good pair of shoes I am so grateful. Chacos sandals are wonderful and I take them EVERYWHERE. Also, a pair of insoles for all the other shoes is helpful. Makes life so much better.
Kayaks: The kayaks represent all the fun and adventures that the family, and friends, have had on the waters. I think it is the one thing that we ALL, minus Trent, enjoy and always want to do together.
Our House: There are so many memories here. It is such a comfortable place to be. It is not beautiful, but it is a good place to be, inside and out.
