I rode a bus. I always rode a bus. When we lived on east Main street, I was the only elementary student that rode the bus. I was in Kindergarten and everyone else was in 6th grade or higher. Each day, Linda Morris, a high schooler, saved me a spot next to her. I was the last student picked up in the morning and the first one dropped off in the afternoon. Linda always made sure my spot was there.
When we moved out of town, I attended the same school and rode a bus with a bazillion kids my age. I loved the bus. I learned important lessons on the bus:
1. DO NOT let Tommy and Eldon Winger hook you up to their little generator thing. You will get quite a jolt.
2. Flipping people off is not nice. Also, I learned what that even was.
3. If strategically placed, you can fit 21 people into one bus seat.
4. Though a lot of fun, and better for sociallizing, standing up in the bus while it is moving is dangerous. (There weren't rules against it back then.)
5. Exiting out the back door, if you need to hurry to the bathroom, is not allowed.
6. My increasing deafness probably began on the bus. It was always so loud.
7. There are exactly nine minutes from the time the bus stops at the Eames house until it gets to my house.
8. The bus stop order will always be determined by who is old and stronger.
I LOVED the bus.
